I would take a certain issue with the observation that Bunyan invokes his own imprisonment when he writes about the man in the iron cage. Certainly Bunyan would have been sensitive to the idea of imprisonment, and this sensitivity could very well have emboldened his passion to warn others of the unwanted consequences of certain behaviors, but I believe there the similarity ends. Bunyan had been imprisoned for preaching the gospel without an official sanction from the religious establishment of the day; the unjust result of extreme obedienc

In 1672 the long imprisonment came to an end. Charles II., in his eagerness to benefit the Catholics, had suspended all the statutes against the Nonconformists. Bunyan received royal authority to preach and was called to the pastorate of the Bedford church, having been chosen for this office before his release. At the Restoration, St. John's Church had been returned to the Episcopalians, and the congregation now met in a barn belonging to one of its members. During these years Bunyan enjoyed prosperity in his work, and his reputation extended as far as London, where great crowds gathered to hear him preach. Portfolio/records: In your portfolio you should include a writing assignment and one of your poetic devices worksheets. You can also include your play. You can also include screen shots. NOTE! If you are turning your portfolio into the school district, keep a separate records binder for yourself at home. Include the best writing assignment and maybe one other assignment that you think highlights the course or your child. This is for your high school college records. You will hold onto these records until your child is in college! You don’t want to save too much, but you want to have enough, just in case.

I find this an odd remark.  Dr. Senior wrote out a list.  Then it was typed.  After several years, it was photo-copied, retyped, and eventually sent around by email over the course of 30 years.  It was put in print recently in his book, The Death of Christian Culture (also available in ebook format).  In the process of writing this article, I received version by pdf and email.  Now I have added the original list to a website, which is– for many readers– linked to their Facebook or LinkedIn pages.  I believe your own posting in the “com box” testifies to the success of putting these “excellent ideas” “within that reality.”  No?  That John Senior’s list has appeared in so many media attests to the enduring worth and ongoing attraction of his views.
